The long tail from my understanding deals with the fact there with every different type of entertainment there are different reasons for why a person is going to by the product and this mainly deals with the fact that people by things because of the mass public and because people are told that these different songs are good and says which movie to go and watch. The truth of the matter deals with the fact that most people really are not into the main big movies that everyone wants to watch they are more into those niche areas. The long tail deals with those movies and songs that everyone does not want to rent but there is such a large amount of people who do want the movies and CD’s there has to be a place where these people can buy these products. The long trail are those movies that are hard to find that you will be able to get only on netflix not at places like blockbuster because of the fact that there is only so much stuff that blockbuster can hold that are popular enough to go into blockbuster. Also compared to going out to a CD store and paying 20 dollars for a CD you can just hop onto itunes or Amazon and pick up a CD that no one really knows to much about but you still want to receive it.

The long tail effects my life in a huge way because of the fact that I am one of those people who really are not into mainstream movies or music and it is a little harder to find these movies and CD’s a blockbuster or a local music store so with the long tail there is an option for me to go out and still get my CD that I want compared to some CD that you don’t really want. The long tail really helps with finding movies that really are not too well known as well. I can just go onto netflix and a day later the DVD will be at my doorstep for a great price.
